BARRELS …DK's tantrum has crushed and warped five levels of girders, turning them into a nightmare of ramps and rolling barrels! Jump for your life or grab a hammer and start smashing!
PIE FACTORY …Treacherous conveyors, leaping flames, and "pies" that look almost good enough to eat… but don't be fooled! These trays of cement are massively dangerous!
ELEVATORS …Two fast-moving columns of elevators and some nasty fireballs await you. Take the easy way out but be wary of the springs.
RIVETS …Your only chance to reunite yourself with your loved one! Dismantle the structure by pulling out the support rivets and give the big ape a concussion he won't soon forget! |

Select from 3 playable characters – Mario, Bruno, or Toni – each with different strengths and weaknesses!
Silky smooth motion and crisp controls… Arcade-action on the Intellivision has never been this good!
Never before heard digital samples: Hear two distinct "growls", the girl cry for "HELP!"… and more!
Never before heard musical scores: Title, Game Over, and an alternate "victory" melody!
Arcade-quality enemy AI and timing… even "control" the barrels, Steve Wiebe-style, just like in King of Kong!
Two game variations, "USA" and "Japan", each with their own high-score! |

This is a good game, I remember how I was playing it when I was little. At that time there were a lot of interesting roms video games. Some of them I found and downloaded on this site https://romsmania.com/ which I found recently.

ReplyDeleteFor what i,ve seen on youtube, this homebrew version of donkeykong is absolutely mind blowing.
ReplyDeleteThe graphics are slightly better then the official version but the real improvement is that it now contains all 4 stages, those intermission screens and it also does have different playeble characters etc…
What i found really interesting is that it does have music and it even has some digital sound samples and all without the need of an intelevoice adaptor and all despite the intelevision lacks a digital soundchannel but by using some clever programming tricks 4bit digital sound became possible on the intelevision and while it does involve more cpu power, but since it’s cpu is 16bit (eventhrough it only can serve as a 10bit cpu) it is enough to run both game logic and digital sound atonce.
Also sadly the intelevision does not have a high resolution as opposed to the in average atari 2600, but that doesn’t stop homebrewers to pump decent graphics out of the intelevision and this game definitely is a hardware pusher.
If game developers back then weren’t that lazy,,didn’t had such time constrains, didn’t had to deal with limited resources and if they weren’t that greed to save on costs, those games such as donkeykong and dk jr etc.. could and would,ve be much much better done on that hardware system.
But since that’s the case, it’s up to those homebrewers to justify the past by coming up with better conversiond of games for that classic hardware system and this game shows it can be done.😁🙏👍
